Ayurvedic Skin Care Treatment

Beauty cannot be measured by any means or mechanism; everybody is beautiful in their own way. Only the appearance is diminished due to external and internal factors, owing to lifestyle ideas, pollution and many other reasons. Ayurvedic skin care treatments are designed to help one overcome these problems with a little help from nature and a loving touch. At Sri Veda Sushruta Ayurveda Hospital we help in nurturing the skin back to its real beauty, with the use of exotic herbs, pure foods that enrich you, and everything that is natural and divine.

Our ayurvedic doctors are highly skilled and experienced people, who know the field of ayurvedic medicines like no other medical centre. In treating skin problems with Ayurvedic medication, it is essential for the doctor to first determine the patient’s Dosha or the body constitution, which in turn helps in determining the exact skin type. Only from the skin type could treatment be narrowed down upon.

The body constitution of a person’s skin could be of different types. At Sri Veda Sushruta Ayurveda Hospital our Ayurvedic doctors are very well trained and understand each patient’s skin type with total accuracy, and the basis of that prescribe the right treatment for each individual.

What are the different skin types determined by the Dosha (Body constitution)?

In Ayurvedic research, there are basically three major skin types, and depending on which category the patient might have, we suggest the appropriate treatment.

Vata

Vata skin type is usually dry, cool to the touch, extremely delicate and thin skin, which also makes it very much vulnerable to some harsh weather conditions. Most patients, with this skin typeface a lot of difficulty during the dry winter periods, irrespective of which part of the world they live in. This skin type also has the tendency to age faster, gets dry, rough and could become very flaky if not taken proper care of.

Kapha

The Kapha type of skin in patients is usually oily, very thick as well as being soft. This skin type has the tendency to age slowly, but that is no good thing. People with Kapha skin type, face many different problems such as dull complexion, excessive oil, pimples, enlarged pores and blackheads. There are many other problems associated with this skin type, but those mentioned before are the most common ones.

Pitta

The Pitta skin type is a somewhat fair, sensitive, not so thick, but very soft skin type. This skin is associated with problems such as rashes, sunspots, acne etc., and always needs proper care for it.

What are the treatments associated with skin care in Ayurveda?

At Sri Veda Sushruta Ayurveda Hospital, we lay a lot of emphasis on the right kind of skin treatment for our patients. As mentioned earlier it depends on the skin type a person carries, the remedies provided are of two major categories. But depending on the skin type, our doctors usually tend to modify some elements of these treatments to suit the skin requirements of the individual.

Lepanam

Lepanam therapy is a highly effective way of treating inflammatory conditions in patients and their skin. It is also known to solve problems including many skin diseases, eczema etc. The therapy process is usually done using a medicated herbal paste, which is then applied on the surface of the skin, left for about 45 minutes to dry for the best results, in each session.

Mikhalepam

Mikhalepam therapy is a more straightforward skin care treatment provided at Sri Veda Sushruta Ayurveda Hospital. This therapy involves the use of herbal powder, which is a mixture of many rejuvenating herbs and this therapy mainly focuses on the deep cleansing of the skin.

Apart from skin therapy we at Sri Veda Sushruta Ayurveda Hospital also provide comprehensive solutions to facial skin, eyes and offer skin rejuvenation therapies to complete a circle in skin care treatments. This involves optimum results generating ayurvedic facials, skin rejuvenation therapies and Netra Basti or Eye Care.

Additionally, our Ayurvedic doctors also focus a lot on helping patients keep the results of the skin care therapy intact for as long as possible, by placing plenty of emphasis on exercising, a healthy diet and advising the patients to drink plenty of water on a daily basis to help clean the skin at all times.
