Even it is sciatica problem in which pain runs down one or both legs from the lower back, losing control over urination or any spine problems can be completely cured through Panchakarma Therapies like Vasti, Kati Vasti, and Meru Chikitsa, etc in Ayurveda.
According to Ayurveda back pain is caused due to the inappropriate behaviour of the doshas which follows
Vata Dosha: The vitiation of Vata dosha causes variable, migrating pain which is throbbing and intense. It results from overuse of muscles, stress, travel, non-movement, etc.
Pitta Dosha: The vitiation of Pitta dosha causes steady burning, lancing pain. It results from inflammation, shock, excessive anger, etc.
Kapha dosha: The vitiation of Kapha dosha causes constant dull, aching pain which is deep and intense. It results from lack of exercise, congestion, overweight conditions, constipation, suppressed emotions, etc.
Ayurveda believes that back pain can be cured permanently by balancing the vitiated doshas through the Panchakarma treatments like
Kati Basti or Kati Vasti: Kati Basti is one of the effective treatments in panchakarma treatment to treat back pain. The term Kati refers to the waist area. Vasti means holding. A small reservoir is made on the waist area to hold warm ayurvedic oils in particular areas for some time. The process is continuously done for half an hour by maintaining a lukewarm temperature. After the process back and spine area is massaged. It will be a course of 5 to 7 days as recommended by an Ayurvedic doctor.
Meru Chikitsa: ‘Meru’ means ‘spine’ and ‘chikitsa’ means ‘treatment.’ Meru chikitsa have been developed thousands of years back which is ancient ayurvedic treatment therapy. It deals with back pain related problems to the spine and its structures. This therapy activates the organs, through pressure or massage on the nerve channels. It stimulates the blood and other body fluids and the nerve currents so that the balance and harmony of the body can be restored and thus helps the body to regain its equilibrium.
